The end of the story: I contacted Bosch and after many emails convinced them that the cooktop was incorrectly designed and a manufacturing defect in that ANY/ALL repairs required removal of "stainless steel" screws which rusted and twisted off. They finally conceded and agreed to pay for the necessary parts to repair the cooktop. It did, however cost me $105 for a Bosch technician to diagnose the problem and an additional $165 for labor. Bosch paid $195 for the parts. TOTAL COST: $465 because Bosch used cheap screws that rusted. Had the proper stainless screw been used by Bosch, total cost to repair for 3 ignitors $45. DON'T BUY BOSCH.
Glad I saw this video. I took all my screws out no problem yesterday to check and can see they are getting corroded as your were so I will replace them with stainless steel screws ASAP. My igniter electrode was also dead on left front burner (our favorite one
We had the same problem with the screws! They broke off and part of the screws are still stuck. Could you tell me what you did to fix it after the screws broke off? Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing.I am having the same problem.
thank you for showing the screw locations. where did you get your spark plugs?
had a hard time to separate the cable harness and igniter. I just tried to seperate them by force like in some other videos. It ended up breaking tip of the cable harness. Then I noticed that they were rusted also. I should have used some lubricant to remove the rust first.
Well, I decided to give it a try since 3 of the 5 burner ignitors failed and needed to be replaced. Every "stainless steel" screw twisted off and I ended up drilling the top of the screw off to remove the burner. Once I got the top off, it has been impossible to remove the screws in the burner assembly. In addition, the screw holding the ignitor is badly rusted and can not be removed. This is absolute JUNK. For an extra $.50, Bosch could have used a high quality stainless steel screw. An "easy-out" didn't work. I'm not sure if there is a solution other than to throw the $1000, 4 year old cooktop in the trash. NEVER buy Bosch. Bad engineering and cheap. I am going to call Bosch for a response.
How did you get the bottom plate off?
Bosch probably saved $3 on the unit. By using inferior fasteners. I got a Bosch range for free because of this issue.
Had the same issue. Center burner ignitor cracked. Busted screws. Had repair guy out to fix a different issue with my Bosche wall oven. Only way to get them out is to drill them. Unfortunately then you need to replace the holder for all 5 of the burners. Well the fine people at Bosch decided not to make replacement parts anymore for 2 of the holders- 00757871 and 00757891. A couple of the others are out of stock with no ETA. Bosch support said and I quote "you are out of luck. It's an old discontinued unit. We hope you'll buy a new one and get a fresh 1 year warranty". Such a stupid design- in order to replace a $15 ignitor you have to break 10 screws and 5 parts. I guess I'll just use a lighter to manually light until the next part busts and I get another brand.
I just sheared a T20 bit off trying to get one of these screws out... they are in there tight for sure. Would creep oil (WD40) help here? Thx
Damnnn.. was just about to try and replace the igniters, and I find out And the screws are gonna break. ;- (
Bosch should be ashamed about the kind of screws used here
is the Ignitor module connection have to be particular point ? or it can be any pin go to any Burner ?
Same Problem with my Bosch 800 series stove and i have 2 of the screws broken while trying to unscrem them and i am now stuck not able to use the center screws using easy off bits, tried drilling using oil drops to break the screw. bosch service is also horrible, that they ask about $ 199 for anything and everything and wont show up that easily. confused how to get these screws out and replace ignitor. any solution is welcome
Did you have any luck with the EZ-out ? What are your options ....replacing all the burners ? I have the same cooktop and all of the screw appear corroded and I am certail that I will have the same issue if I have to replace an igniter......damn....horrible engineering !
Same shit for me...
2 years using this stove, ours had a problem too. sucks! bosch said $400 to replace one, so might as well as get new one.
What is the part number for the replacement igniter if you know thanks
Is the screw for the ignitor the same as the burner screws??
